This seminar, taught by the book’s author and construction attorney Robert A. Weissman and his construction paralegal, co-author and co-seminar instructor for 17 years, Susan Shaffner, will discuss the new procedures and laws that went into effect on July 1,2012. (The old laws often referred to as the “Mechanics’ Lien” law were repealed in its entirely and replaced with new laws that took effect July 1, 2012). The Miller Act (federal construction bond laws) will be discussed, but were not changed.
This seminar will discuss Preliminary Notices, Stop Payment Notices (which replaced Stop Notices), Mechanics’ Liens, payment bonds, release bonds and the four statutory releases for both public and private projects. We will teach you how to complete the Mechanics’ Lien, Stop Payment Notice and Preliminary Notice forms.
This seminar requires the use of the author’s Construction Collection book. All Participants will receive blank copies of the Mechanics’ Lien, Stop Payment Notice and Preliminary Notice to complete. It is not necessary that a company purchase more than one copy of the book.
